Health coverage for your family, in plain language.
If you are self-employed, between jobs, or your work does not offer coverage, the Marketplace is where most families look. I help you compare what is actually available to you, check whether you qualify for financial help, and explain the trade-offs without the jargon.
Individual & family health
What I help people with
Health plans are easy to compare on price alone and expensive to choose that way. Here is what we look at instead.
ACA Marketplace plans
Health coverage for individuals and families, sometimes called Obamacare. We compare what is available where you live, side by side.
Financial help
Many households qualify for premium tax credits based on income and family size. We check whether you do, before assuming you cannot afford coverage.
Doctors and prescriptions
We check your doctors against each plan’s network and your medications against its drug list — the two things people discover too late.
Coverage for the whole family
Households are rarely simple. Different ages, different doctors, sometimes different needs. We sort out what covers everyone.
When you can enroll
There are two doors into a Marketplace plan, and most people qualify for one of them.
- Open Enrollment
- Open Enrollment for 2027 plans starts November 1. This is the window when anyone can apply or change plans, and it is the simplest way in.
- A qualifying life event
- Outside Open Enrollment, a life change can open a Special Enrollment Period: losing other coverage, moving, getting married, having a baby, or certain other events. Tell me what changed and I will tell you whether it counts.
- Turning 26
- Aging off a parent’s plan is one of the most common reasons people need their own coverage, and it opens a window of its own.
- Starting or leaving a job
- If employer coverage is ending, do not wait for it to lapse. The window is tied to the date it ends.
What we check together
- Whether your doctors are in each plan’s network
- How your prescriptions are covered, and at which pharmacy
- Deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums against your real budget
- Whether your household qualifies for premium tax credits
- How the plan handles the care your family actually uses
Questions people actually ask
Do you charge for this?
No. There is no cost to you for my help comparing plans or enrolling. Working with an agent does not make your coverage cost more than going direct.
I do not think I can afford coverage.
Check before you conclude that. Financial help is based on household income and size, and a lot of people who assume they earn too much still qualify for something. It takes a few minutes to find out.
I missed Open Enrollment. Am I stuck?
Not necessarily. A qualifying life event — losing coverage, moving, marriage, a new baby and others — can open a Special Enrollment Period. Tell me what changed and when, and I will tell you where that leaves you.
Can we do this in Spanish?
Yes. I work in Spanish and English, including the paperwork and the follow-up questions afterward.
Other coverage I help with
Let’s look at it together.
A short call, no pressure, and no cost for my help. English or Spanish.
